What We Do
RHA has prioritized LGBTQIA+ care since the organization’s inception. RHA believes that LGBTQIA+ centered care and gender affirmation for transgender and gender diverse individuals is a basic human right and constitutes a necessary part of any refugee medical response. LGBTQIA+ individuals face heightened levels of discrimination, political persecution, and gender/sexuality related violence compared to their cisgender heterosexual counterparts.
With funding from the Transgender Law Center, RHA provides medical affirmation, mental health services, targeted medical-legal services and basic medical care to the LGBTQIA+ community. Our organization also serves LGBTQIA+ migrants at 3 shelters that specifically houses these individuals.
