Acupuncture and Naturopathy

What We Do

RHA has been committed to utilizing different medical modalities to treat our patients. We have partnered with Acupuncturists without Borders and naturopaths in Mexico and the United States to provide acupuncture and natural medicine to our patients in conjunction with our medical team. We have provided acupuncture services at Justicia en Salud and at shelters around Tijuana.

Why does acupuncture play an important role in equity and justice within the healthcare system? The answers might be numerous, but a few stand out. Acupuncture is one of the modalities of a complete medical system that has survived through the centuries. Chinese Medicine is effective - in the past through its efficacy alone and most recently with the backing of scientific research - and it has also been used as a preventive medicine. The beauty of it lies in its simplicity. The insertion of needles on specific acupuncture points and the use of herbal medicine with some manual therapies and moxibustion can help soothe many ailments and bring someone’s health to its optimal state.

Acupuncture also has a tremendous role in women’s health with its nuanced way of accompanying a person’s cycle in its four stages and able to regulate it if needed. It can help a pregnant person to get and stay pregnant in addition to turning breeched babies and inducing labor. And after the baby is born, acupuncture continues to nurture the new mother and help her with hormonal regulation and can come to the rescue in cases where there are any signs of postpartum depression. If issues arise with breast milk production, recovering blood volume and nutrition, the medicine shines again.

It is an amazing tool that can be used anytime and anywhere, but particularly in conjunction with all the services already offered at Justicia & Resistencia for people that need a safe place for their pregnancies and deliveries. Acupuncture can alleviate pain and help regulate digestion and sleep. It is safe and its side effects are few and uncommon. It is a cost-effective medicine that can be easily used in most settings and shelters. Acupuncture is a medicine for all!
